I frequently get requests for custom doll dresses, and I have to explain why I can’t do a custom dress in the same price range as my “rack” dresses on my website.
I supplement my social security–which won’t even cover utilities– by sewing the doll clothes. Like everyone else, I can’t live on less than $15 an hour, and even that is not very much.

I don’t sew for fun or a hobby. I truly love my work, but this is just that—work. I cannot live without the money I earn here.

Online Sewing Seminar in the Works

I have seriously ( finally) started putting together my online sewing seminar, which will include written materials and DVD. It will probably take a year to get it done because there is a lot to it and in between I have to keep up with my dress inventory on my website, http://www.joannmorgan.com
I decided a proper and complete online sewing seminar would be more practical for everyone. The in-person seminar is very intense and complete, but is not cost effective for me, it takes a lot of materials and prep time besides the actual 6 days for the seminar ( arrival, four full days sewing 9 AM-9PM, departure day) and is expensive for the student, although what is learned can be turned into a career — go here to see the work of one of mystudents http://www.babettedollfashions.com/ A very complete online seminar would be an answer for many who would like to learn but just can’t take a week and travel to do it. We have just been advised that a “new user” signed up to ND&TBC and is emailing everyone about their items and asking if they take PayPal. THIS IS PROBABABLY A SCAM! Please be VERY CAREFUL when accepting PayPal from anyone. PayPal’s current policies make it extremely easy for buyers to receive your products and make claims that they did not. Or they will return an empty box and tell PayPal they returned the item to the seller. They then get to keep your item AND PAYPAL REFUNDS THEM THEIR MONEY WITHOUT QUESTION!

Geez, time flies! We haven’t forgotten about ND&TBC!!!`

We are still working on our plans and tools for ND&TBC including the possibility of free websites for doll and teddy bear collectors and dealers.

So far the votes show that most of you would not mind if we sold/placed ads on the websites if they were free to start with and you had an option to upgrade to an inexpensive (say $19.95 per month) paid plan to get rid of our ads.

We are working on the technology I promise!

I am also working with my mother, JoAnn Morgan to get her to start blogging here more (Mom I hope you are reading this).

In an effort to make it easier for our moderator(s) to post news and stories we have added a “blog” feature to the ND&TBC website. This is our next step in adding the “free websites” possibility to the site.

In some instances these posts will allow commenting. We have added this feature because the community commenting system seems too cumbersom and we want this site to be more user friendly.
